Stress is a natural part of any animal’s life. It is a basic survival mechanism. However, in many ways we are still wired up to our caveman instincts, even though the life or death aspects of our concerns are largely extinct now. Stress is like an allergic reaction, an overreaction to modern day worries. Eat more cheese, drink more wine and turn the television news off. Be at one with cheese in nature. For example, climb a mountain and then gorge on Gouda at the peak, or wade into a river nibbling on Applewood smoked cheese. Use cheese to help you switch off and relax. Exercise and enjoyment of your daily cheese are key. Also see ‘Sir Ten-Benson’s Tobacconists Corner’ for further advice on beating stress with another super substance – pipe tobacco.
