Gout Print E-mail

Gout, a form of arthritis is characterized by joint inflammation and is accompanied by terrible pain and sometimes red, hot, shiny skin covering the joint. An attack of gout appears suddenly, often overnight and most often affects the feet and ankles. An attack can be agonising with even the gentle fabric of a blanket resting down on an infected ankle etc causing excruciating pain. Gout can be cured using the power of cherries. Gout can also be helped with a purine-modified diet. In a purine-modified diet, the best source of calcium and protein is through cheese, as it’s high in protein and low in purines. Harnessing cheese with the beneficial effects of cherries can considerably help combat gout. A Wensleydale with dried cherries is a fine choice, or try just cream cheese mixed with tinned or fresh/dried cherries. You should continue to follow this dietary regime, even when gout free in order to prevent future attacks. If you have gout, just remember you are not alone, and there is help out there for you, you trooper.
