Born in Burnley, but raised in Ely, Cambridgeshire, Phillip was a spindley, boffin minded bullied child. After graduating from Hull college of Quizzes Phillip worked in the corporate sector for many years, displaying and profiting from much business acumen.
Always the loner, he had a far stronger love of quizzes, trivia and general knowledge, which finally overwhelmed him in December 1982, when he strangled to death 5 of his work colleagues in an altercation over the commitment of his team, and answers to the Xmas party quiz questions. He spent 8 years at Broadmooor psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane, UK, before being released on life licence in 1989. Since then he has worked with his business partner Ron Boss, using his genius quiz-minded knowledge of Non League football statistics as a business tool to dominate the coverage of cableTV non-league football in the UK. He is quite camp and considered ‘Still Dangerous.’ He is also team captain of 147 pub quiz teams in the south of England. Interesting Trivia: Phillip hates to be called ‘Phil'. Anyone shortening his name can expect a smack in the chops or at very least a demanding quiz question. Claim to Fame: Holds the Guinness Book of World Records Record for the most pub quiz team wins, a staggering 3493! Greatest Professional Achievement: Becoming team leader of The Fox and Hounds Quiz Team, Burnley, 1996. |
